2009 MBPTA COMMITTEE ROSTER

EDUCATION PLANNING COMMITTEE - The Education Committee corresponds mainly through e-mail. Meetings only occur when necessary. The object of this committee is to plan the education for the five (5) regularly scheduled MBPTA meetings throughout the year (the last meeting is the Annual Business Meeting), the annual (ICC) seminar that is held in the fall, and the annual educational offerings that are held typically at the beginning of each year for the U of M and Regions III.  There is also an individual(s) from the Education Committee that serves on the State of Minnesota Education Advisory Committee, which meets approximately every four (4) to six (6) weeks. This is an advisory committee to the State of Minnesota Building Codes and Standards Division and to the colleges which make recommendations for changes with the Building Inspection Technology courses and recommends instructors for those courses.  MBPTA also has certain members from the Education Committee that represent and serve in specific areas of our educational planning for both Regions III and the Annual Building Official Institute.  The members represent MBPTA and will report back to all members as to the specific planning progress for these two annual educational events. 

Meeting Programs: All members will assist in planning our regular scheduled MBPTA meetings.  This will consist of recruiting educational speakers for our five (5) scheduled meetings that are held in February, March, May, July & September.

Annual ICC/Fall Seminar:  All members will assist in planning our fall seminar held in October.  This is our ICC (all day) seminar offered to our members.  A topic and speaker need to be selected.

 The following two sub-committees have members who assist in a “specific” or special area in our education planning.  

BYLAWS COMMITTEE  - sdfgdfThe Bylaws committee corresponds mainly through e-mail. The sole responsibility of this committee is to ensure the bylaws are being followed and to suggest changes prior to the Annual Business Meeting. 

10,000 LAKES REPRESENTATIVE -This individual will attend the 10,000 Lakes Chapter Meetings every month and keep the members of MBPTA informed.

COMMUNICATIONS COMMITTEE - The Communication Committee is responsible for compiling and distributing the official communications of the Minnesota Building Permit Technicians Association, including the newsletter and the meeting minutes.

 REGION III REPRESENTATIVE - President of MBPTA will attend the Region III scheduled meetings and keep the members of MBPTA informed.

All Committees are always “open” for new members to join and assist at any given time.
